I love this time of year! The crispness in the air, the leaves on the ground, and the yearly carving of pumpkins for our family. I'm such a tradition-ist! I love and embrace the traditions that we, as a family practice, every year. One such tradition is carving our pumpkins for Halloween and roasting the pumpkin seeds (YUMMMM!)
This year we carved three pumpkins. One traditional jack o' lantern, the black cat and the skull and cross bones. Truthfully, carving pumpkins is great...but Mo and I really enjoy roasting the pumpkin seeds

. We love them!!!Mogie is going as "Mother Nature" this year (in other words a wood nymph). I have 48 hours to create her "nature" wand....YIKES! Most likely a trip the world of Wal tomorrow and spending the night trying to create it!
My pumpkin seeds:Wash seeds in a strainer. Add some sea salt, pepper, garlic powder, season salt, lemon pepper and dill weed. Roast in the oven about 20 minutes at 350 degrees. Turn them after 10 minutes while roasting. The house smells great and the taste....YUMMERS! Make it a family tradition.....we love it!
I couldn't help myself from buying Ali Edward's "Life Art" book yesterday. (I've been flipping through it for months and months and I couldn't help myself!) I love the simplicity and enjoyment she finds in every day life. Her mentality has helped me really think of the every day things we do that really make up who we are. Needless to say, the pen and journal have really gotten a work-out in the past 24-hours. I find myself really enjoying the simple, everyday acts of me and my family! (Thanks Ali! :) )

Happy birthday to your sweet girl! My 2 girls have October b-days, too (1st and 10th). It's just the best way to start off the fall season!
I LOVE that Ali book. I especially love how her story takes precedence over the "scrappy stuff." It's very liberating for me (word nerd). :)

btw, regarding the wood nymph costume (cute idea!), I've made several costumes "on the fly" and I've got 2 words for ya - liquid stitch! ;)
